There is fasting for two days (Panchami and Sashthi) in this occasion. Women begin their fast taking food without salt in the day of Panchami. On Sashthi, they fast even without water and change a new dress in the afternoon. Then in their respective groups, the worshippers head to river banks, merrymaking on the way and at last offer their materials to the setting sun. Five kinds of seasonal fruit with centistokes are placed on river banks with a wish of welfare, betterment of children and also for child bearing.
