A spectacular Cross Country (XC) MTB race is about to unfold on 26th April at Lamatar, a quaint village at one end of Lalitpur district. NepalSutra TM visited the race site one week before the scheduled event and found it very encouraging see the active participation of the cycling communities of Kathmandu. Young and not so young riders were seen practicing for the race with lots of enthusiasm. The race also has support from expats living in Kathmandu. A large number of them are seen in and around the race track.

From the look of it, organizers have done a great job in preparing the race course. The starting venue at Shuvatara School ground could not have been better as it provides the spacious sports ground to hold the masses of athletes and spectators. The school is also providing other facilities such as ample parking space, recreation area and most importantly, toilet facilities.

Among the big guns of cycling in Nepal, The NCA president, Mr. Chhimi Gurung was also at hand to inspect the track and provide his professional feedback to the organizing team. This is definitely encouraging to the biking community in Kathmandu.
