Bisket Jatra is celebrated for 9 days, which begins four days before the New Year sets in. The 30th of Chaitra and 1st of Baisakh (i.e. 13th and 14th of April) in Nepali Calendar are of utmost importance. Bisket Jatra is celebrated at Nyatapol at the Bhaktapur Durbar Square on a grand scale in reverence of god Bhairab and goddess Bhadrakali.
This involves putting together of an enormous chariot which is followed by a massive tug of war between the two teams. This custom has been followed for generations and this is how the Nepalese welcome the New Year.
